Dr. Albert F. Wright

About Us

We are people with Parkinson’s dedicated to elevating the voices of those with lived experience of Parkinson’s to inform the way Parkinson’s is understood, treated, and ultimately cured.

What We Offer

Resolve Parkinson’s offers opportunities for you to contribute to a changed future. You can help us transform the future of Parkinson’s.

Director of Research, Emeritus

Dr. Albert F. Wright was a research scientist, founder, and current Director of Research for Resolve Parkinson’s.

As a boy, Dr. Wright knew he wanted to be a scientist by the time he was 12. Fascinated by science and technology, he built motors and machines in his dad’s workshop, made fireworks, and automated the lights in the family’s coal cellar. At age 16, he left school because his parents couldn’t afford the cost, but he continued to study and work at the same time, finally achieving the highest level of academic excellence.

Dr. Wright was a Graduate of the Royal Institute of Chemistry, London, and was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Bristol before taking up a postdoctoral research post at the University of Oxford specializing in neutron scattering. For most of his career, he worked at the Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, France, the world’s leading institution for neutron science and technology.

Dr. Wright’s love of science was driven by his passion for solving problems that other people find difficult.

When he was diagnosed in 2018, it was only natural that he turned his mind to understanding the mechanisms driving Parkinson’s. Only two years later, he was able to apply that knowledge to create an extremely inexpensive and effective therapy, which has stabilized his own health ever since. Read more about the therapy Dr. Wright developed here.

Dr. Wright worked to try to make that therapy available to as many Parkinson’s patients as possible. For Dr. Wright, the most difficult problem with Parkinson’s was not the complexity of the disease, but the denial of existing knowledge of Parkinson’s to protect vested interests. Reflecting on the research Dr. Wright has carried out over the last five years, he asked: “If I could achieve that result in such a short time for negligible cost, ask yourself why billions of dollars have been spent without at least achieving a comparable result?”

Dr. Wright’s dedication to Resolve Parkinson’s stemmed from his desire to stop the progression of Parkinson’s by targeting the steps that cause non-motor symptoms. His ground-breaking intervention was achieved using a substance Albert referred to as bioavailable sulforaphane, which was produced from broccoli seeds under tightly controlled conditions. Dr. Wright’s knowledge and experience on this subject was second to none, and he was generous in sharing his knowledge with other scientists whose values and interests aligned with those of Resolve Parkinson’s.

Dr. Wright passed away in January 2025, but Resolve Parkinson’s remains dedicated to continuing its advocacy in honor of his legacy. Read our dedication to Dr. Wright here.
